Platform > Integration Layer

Every insight starts with connected data.

The Rayven Integration Layer connects every data source in your operation - cloud platforms, OT systems, IoT devices, APIs, files + more - into a single, governed + unified data pipeline.

INTEGRATION LAYER - LAYER 01 05

The connective tissue of your intelligence stack.

Before AI can analyse, before dashboards can visualise + before automation can act data must arrive.

The Integration Layer in the Rayven Platform is where raw information from across your operation becomes structured, accessible input for connected systems and internal platform tools/capabilities.

It doesn't matter whether your data lives in a legacy SCADA system, a modern cloud API, an IoT sensor, or a manually entered form. Rayven's Integration Layer handles all of it - with the governance, reliability + speed you need.

PROBLEMS THE INTEGRATION LAYER SOLVES

Integration challenges we solve every day.

We breakdown the same frustrating barriers that come up time and again, including:

Legacy ERPs with
no usable API

SAP, Oracle, Sage, and Dynamics hold your most valuable data - but getting it out cleanly requires specialist consultants and custom middleware. Rayven's pre-built connectors and file parsing pipeline change the equation.

OT data trapped behind the IT/OT divide

SCADA platforms, OSIsoft PI historians, and PLCs sit behind OT network boundaries, invisible to business systems. Rayven bridges the IT/OT gap without network redesign or expensive bespoke integration layers.

Many sites, many different data formats

Whether you manage multiple sites, multiple clients, or multiple business units, every environment sends data differently: different file formats, field names, and schedules. Rayven normalises it all at ingestion.

 MQTTModbusOPC-UA?

Devices speaking protocols nothing else understands

MQTT from one vendor, Modbus from another, OPC-UA from a third. Without a universal layer you build one-off pipelines for every device type. Rayven supports hundreds of industrial and IoT protocols natively.

Critical data locked
in spreadsheets

Field teams, operators, and managers capture critical data in spreadsheets and forms that never reach core systems. Rayven captures it at source - structured and query-able, on any device, even offline.

Client environments that were never designed to connect

For MSPs and technology partners managing diverse client environments: no two stacks are the same, but Rayven's 200+ connectors and custom connector builder mean one platform connects them all.

Rayven Integration Layer FAQs.

The Integration Layer is the foundation of the Rayven Platform — the set of tools and connectors that bring data from any source into the platform. It supports file uploads, pre-built IT/OT connectors, REST APIs, IoT protocols, digital forms, AI connectors, and streaming data pipelines. Together, these capabilities give organisations a single, governed path to data unification regardless of where their data originates.

The Integration Layer handles virtually any data source an industrial or enterprise organisation might have: cloud applications (ERP, CRM, SaaS tools), operational technology (SCADA, PLCs, DCS systems, historians), IoT and IIoT devices (MQTT, OPC-UA, Modbus), streaming data pipelines, REST and GraphQL APIs, file-based data (CSV, Excel, JSON, XML), and manually entered data via configurable digital forms.

No. Rayven ships with 200+ pre-built connectors for common enterprise and industrial systems. For systems not yet covered, the API endpoint tool and custom connector builder allow technical teams to build reusable integrations without deep software engineering. Most connections can be configured by operations or IT teams — not just developers.

Yes. The Integration Layer supports real-time streaming (via MQTT, websockets, OPC-UA, and other event-driven protocols) and batch ingestion (scheduled file imports, ETL jobs, API polling) simultaneously. You can mix both modes across different sources, with all data flowing into the same unified downstream environment.

Rayven includes native connectors for SCADA platforms, historians (including OSIsoft PI and Aspen), PLCs, and a wide range of industrial communication protocols. For truly legacy or proprietary systems, edge adapters and custom connectors extend coverage without requiring infrastructure replacement. All OT connections are managed centrally with health monitoring and full governance controls.

Rayven's IoT integration natively supports MQTT, OPC-UA, Modbus TCP/RTU, BACnet, AMQP, HTTP/HTTPS webhooks, and custom protocol adapters. Devices can connect to Rayven directly or via an edge gateway, depending on the network architecture and latency requirements of your environment.

The Integration Layer is Layer 1 of the 5-layer Rayven Platform stack. Data ingested here flows into the Data Layer (Layer 2) for storage, transformation, and unification — which then feeds the Execution Layer (automated workflows and alerts), the Presentation Layer (dashboards and reports), and the Security and Governance Layer. Every Rayven capability depends on data that started in the Integration Layer.

Yes. Many of Rayven's customers operate environments with legacy OT infrastructure, proprietary industrial protocols, and ageing IT systems alongside modern cloud platforms. The Integration Layer is specifically designed to bridge old and new without requiring system replacement — connecting your full operational data estate into a single governed pipeline.

Rayven supports CSV, Excel (XLS/XLSX), JSON, XML, Parquet, and standard delimited text files. Automated parsing, column mapping, and data type inference reduce the onboarding effort for file-based datasets. Scheduled imports can pull from FTP, SFTP, SharePoint, Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage, and other storage locations.

Every connection in the Integration Layer maintains a full audit log — what data was received, when, from which source, and whether it passed validation. Schema enforcement, data quality checks, and transformation rules can be applied at the point of ingestion, ensuring only clean, validated data flows downstream. Governance status is visible from the central Rayven admin dashboard.
